So I’ve been a crocheter for years, picking it up here and there but never into it seriously. Then about a year ago I decided to take a beginners knitting class so I could do both crafts….well I only made it to the first class and never finished it. I hated knitting, thought it was stupid and thought I would forever be destined to never knit….so this last December the beginners class came up again and I told myself I was going to try it again. So I signed up and dug out the old scarf I had started the year before, it was sad and it was just how I had left it. I went to the class feeling sort of confident but sort of defeated thinking I would never understand this! Well I kept knitting and knitting and finally was getting the hang of it, I watched videos on http://www.knittinghelp.com/ which helped immensly and finally was finished with my little scarf! I went to the second class feeling good about it, I was the only one that was finished and so she helped me bind off and then told me how to felt it. I went home and felted it (we tied nuts in it to create a bubble like effect) and it felted wonderfully!!! (I used Cascade 220 wool which was amazing to use!) Here is my first knitting project completed:
So I have since learned how to cable knit which I am even more addicted to!! I have 2 simple cable scarves on needles, my cable bag that just needs to be lined and now last night I started a cabled headband for a Ravelry swap I’m in. I love this headband so much I am definately making one for myself!! Here’s the headband:
It has like X’s and O’s on it for Valentine’s day!!
So today I had a horrible morning. Well it started out good, I was able to get a massage from a friend and it was a much needed massage. Then as I was leaving I kinda backed up into a snow pile and got stuck…so some nice guys came out and helped push me out and I thought I was good so they left. Little did I know as I would go forward I would get stuck on a different snow pile…so I went to backup and start rocking the car out (if you live where there is snow you know what this is!) and as I backed up I slid on ice up onto the curb and almost the sidewalk!! My front wheels were stuck on ice and since I only have front wheel drive this did me no good at all!!! I was super stuck. So I called my husband and dad at work and they both left their jobs to come help me…of course they laughed at me and said “Only a women” Yeah not fun. Of course they got me out but I was so mad. 45 minutes of my life I will never get back!!
So needless to say this left me in a bad mood so I headed over to a local craft shop where they currently have their yarn and yarn stuff at 45% off and bought a bag of stuff. I’m now going to sit down and knit all night. I pretty much love knitting. I may make my eco-tote as well since I was able to get cheap handles at the yarn store. I plan on doing nothing but crafting and watching American Idol and Biggest Loser tonight.
I hate winter.
